Once Upon A Time: Multiplicitous Self, Travel-hopping, & Re/memory

£4.00

This zine explores ABC’s Once Upon A Time as a pop culture text that illustrates complex theoretical frameworks related to identity, time, and memory. Focusing on Regina Mills/The Evil Queen, the zine examines the concept of the multiplicitous self (Anzaldúa, 1987). It also analyzes the show’s use of portals and time travel through the lens of travel-hopping (Hayashi; Barad, 2018), and re/memory (Rhee, 2020) through the relationship between Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin and his son Baelfire/Neal. This zine positions imagination and fantasy television as tools for understanding selfhood, relationships, and broader structures within 21st-century American society.
